Community Welfare and Self-Reliance Fair

We are looking for volunteers to help make this year's Community Welfare and Self-Reliance Fair a success, and we would love to have you join us.

The Community Welfare and Self-Reliance Fair brings together nonprofit organizations, government agencies, churches, and community partners to connect individuals and families in need with employment resources, educational opportunities, health services, clothing, and other programs that promote self-reliance. The fair serves residents from Utah County, Salt Lake County, and beyond, including many immigrant families.

As volunteers, we have the opportunity to welcome every person with kindness and respect. A warm greeting, a helping hand, or simply making someone feel seen can have a lasting impact. Your service will help create an organized, welcoming environment where every guest feels valued.

We are currently looking for volunteers to serve in the following areas:

Registration
Welcome attendees, assist with check-in, and help direct families to available resources.

Parking and Traffic
Help safely direct vehicles and assist guests as they arrive and depart.

Donation Attendants
Assist families in the clothing distribution area by keeping the clothing organized and helping guests find items for themselves and their families.

Ushers
Welcome attendees, answer questions, provide directions, and help people navigate the event throughout the day.

Whether you can serve for a few hours or the entire event, your help will make a meaningful difference.

Clothing Drive for Local Families

Our community has an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

From July 1 through August 26, we are collecting clothing donations for the Community Welfare and Self-Reliance Fair, taking place on August 29.

The Community Welfare and Self-Reliance Fair brings together nonprofit organizations, government agencies, churches, and community partners to connect individuals and families in need with resources that promote self-reliance, education, employment, health, and overall well-being. The fair serves residents from Utah County, Salt Lake County, and beyond, including many immigrant families working toward greater stability and self-reliance.

We need your help stocking the clothing distribution area.

We are collecting ONLY items that can be worn, including:
Men's clothing
Women's clothing
Children's clothing
Infant clothing
Shoes
Jackets and coats

Please donate only clean, gently used, or new clothing and shoes.

We are NOT collecting household goods, toys, furniture, electronics, bedding, food, or other non-wearable items.

REMINDER: Missionary Prep Class

Starting on Sunday, May 10th, Missionary Preparation class will be held in the Relief Society room at the Stake Center. Class will continue every other Sunday after that. We invite all prospective missionaries to attend.

REMINDER: Gospel Fundamentals

Starting on Sunday, January 18th, you'll have option to attend a Gospel Fundamentals class. In the Stage Overflow will be a Gospel Principles class that focuses on the basics using the same material as the class in the Relief Society room, just geared more for new converts or anyone needing to get back to the basics. It will be taught by our ward missionaries.

Women Can Now Serve Missions for the Church of Jesus Christ at Age 18

The First Presidency is pleased to announce that effective immediately, young women who choose to serve a full-time mission may begin their service at age 18 following graduation from high school or its equivalent.

While the Lord asks every worthy, able young man as part of his priesthood responsibility to prepare for and serve a mission, we reiterate that missionary service remains an optional opportunity for young women. We recognize that for those young women who desire to serve a full-time mission, the choice of age to begin service will not be the same for everyone.

We extend our love to the youth of the Church and commend them for their faithfulness.

A Look Inside the New Temple Square Visitors’ Center

The new Temple Square Visitors’ Center in Salt Lake City is a welcoming place to learn about the role of Jesus Christ in daily life.

Through art, interactive exhibits, and quiet spaces, you are invited to learn about Christ’s teachings, the purpose of temples, and the promises made there. A scale model of the Salt Lake Temple and rooms inspired by temples around the world help explain what happens inside these sacred buildings. 

The experience centers on Jesus Christ and how faith in Him guides life beyond Temple Square—through service, compassion, and personal devotion. You are welcome to explore, reflect, and experience a moment of peace.

The Temple Square Visitors' Center will be fully opened to the public beginning May 18th.
